Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals are often regarded as the two most underachieving teams in the history of Indian Premier League. These two have never won the IPL trophy. Both sides have tried different combinations, but nothing has worked so far. The fans expect a close contest in DC vs KXIP as the two sides share almost same reputation. This fixture is also referred to as the Northern derby.

The first games between these two sides during the IPL 2019 was played PCA Mohali. Delhi skipper Shreyas won the toss in that game and invited the Kings to bat first. They didn’t have a good start as both openers failed to play a substantial knock. However, the middle-order came good for the Kings as Sarafraz Khan (39 off 29 deliveries) and David Miller (43 runs off 30 deliveries) added 62 runs for the 4th wicket. Mandeep Singh added the finishing touches to push KXIP vs DC 2019 score to 166/9 in 20 overs. Chris Morris picked up 3 wickets for 30 in 4 overs.
Chasing the target, Delhi Capitals were in the control of the chase most of the times. Their 3 top-order batsmen chipped in with a score of more than 30 runs. However, Delhi Capitals saw an unprecedented batting collapse started in 17th over of the innings. They lost their last 7 wickets for 9 runs to get bundled out at 152 runs. DC lost the game by 14 runs, and Sam Curran returned with 4 wickets in his account including a hat-trick.
In reverse leg, the Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl first. Once again, KXIP batting underwhelmed, and only Chris Gayle could manage to play a solid knock of 69 runs off 37 deliveries. Handy contributions from Mandeep Singh (30 runs) and Harpreet Brar (20 runs) took DC vs KXIP live score to 163/7. The leggie from Nepal – Sandeep Lamichhane picked up 3 wickets in his quota of 4 overs.
Delhi Capitals lost Prithvi Shaw early in the chase, but twin fifties from Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer took Delhi close to the target. While Dhawan scored 56 runs off 41 deliveries, Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten knock of 58 runs made sure that there is no collapse this time around. DC won the game with 5 wickets in hand.
