Last meetings

IPL MI vs KXIP 2019 encounters were most certainly quite entertaining. In the first fixture, it was Mumbai Indians that batted first and MI vs KXIP live score was 176 at the Wankhede Stadium. Wicket keeper batsman Quinton de Kock was the standout as he scored 60 of 39 deliveries, while Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard chipped in with a knock of 32 and 31 respectively. Mohammed Shami, Hardus Viljoen and Murugan Ashwin were amongst the wickets for Punjab as they scalped two apiece.

In reply, Kings XI Punjab cruised their way to a comfortable eight wicket win with an over remaining. The top three comprising of K.L.Rahul, Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarawal did enough to coast their way to a comfortable win. Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal chipped in with quick fire knocks of 40 and 45, while KL Rahul anchored the innings courtesy his innings of 71 of 57 balls. Krunal Pandya was the only one from the Mumbai camp who contributed in the wickets column.

As for the reverse fixture, it yet again turned out to be a high-scoring affair. Punjab batting first posted a dominant MI vs KXIP score total of 197 for the loss of four wickets, courtesy the brilliance of Rahul and Gayle. The front line openers compiled a partnership of 116 from just 12 overs. Gayle being his usual self smashed a 36 ball 63, while KL Rahul struck a memorable 100 of 64 deliveries.

In the second innings, it seemed like the Kings would run away with the game especially since they picked up four wickets for a score of under a 100. However, Kieran Pollard had other intentions as he single handedly won his side the game thanks to a belligerent knock of 83 from 31 balls. The win was even more special for the Caribbean, as it was him who was leading Mumbai that night since Rohit Sharma was out injured.

Who are MI top batsmen?

Mumbai Indians were crowned champions last season and a big credit of it went to their batsmen. South African international, Quinton de Kock topped the charts in terms of most number of runs scored in the previous edition for his side.de Kock accumulated a total of 529 runs, with a strike rate of 132.91 that included four fifties from 16 games. His ability to exploit the power play overs and exquisite timing certainly makes him a threat up the order.

It would be impossible to leave the skipper Rohit Sharma out of the list. In spite of Sharma not having the “best of seasons,” he did manage to score 405 runs at a strike rate of 128.57 and an average of 32.61. Not to forget Rohit Sharma has the record of scoring four-hundreds for India in the T20 format which makes him a real asset.

Hardik Pandya was the ‘X-Factor’ in Mumbai’s title win as he often chipped in with his ability to smash boundaries in the final few overs, while coming in as a middle order batsman. Pandya struck 402 runs from 15 innings at a staggering strike rate of 191.42. The star all-rounder also played one of the knocks of the IPL as he struck 91 of just 34 deliveries against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Who are KXIP top batsmen?

KL Rahul was in sublime form in the IPL last season. Rahul scored 593 runs from 14 innings, at a strike rate of 135.38 and a batting average of 53.90. The recently introduce Punjab captain also secured six fifties and a hundred in the process.

His opening partner Chris Gayle has always been a nightmare for bowlers, particularly in the IPL. The West Indies international scored 490 runs from 13 games, with a strike of 153.60 and a strike rate of 40.83. Gayle does fall in the category of ‘IPL Greats,’ as he has scored 4484 runs in the tournament that includes 28 fifties and six-hundreds to his name. Mayank Agarwal did show promise on quite a few occasions but wasn’t consistent enough. However, Agarwal does have the quality to impress as he’s

Who are MI top bowlers?

One of the major reasons for Mumbai Indians success in the star studded league is their pace bowling duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga. The two bowlers yet again were at the top of the pile in terms of wickets taken for their side.

Bumrah scalped 19 wickets from the 16 games with a decent economy of 6.63. Whereas, the veteran Lasith Malinga picked up 16 wickets from 12 games, which also included the all-important wicket of Shardul Thakur on the final ball of the tournament to win the title for his side.

Hardik Pandya proved to be handy in the bowling department too, as he got 14 wickets, while Rahul Chahar’s wrist spin earned him 13 from 13.

Who are KXIP top bowlers?

Mohammed Shami was lethal with the ball, the last time around for Kings XI Punjab. The specialist Indian fast bowler scalped 19 wickets from just 14 games and looked sharp as ever. In the absence of Ravichandran Ashwin, the responsibility adds on to the spin trio of Murugan Ashwin, Mujeeb ur Rahman and youngster Ravi Bishnoi. Murgan picked up 10 wickets from 10 games, while Mujeeb ur Rahman’s mystery spin has earned him 17 wickets from 16 games for Punjab. The trump card, however, for Kings XI Punjab could be Ravi Bishnoi. The teenager was pivotal with the ball in the U19 World Cup for India this year and was the leading wicket taker of the tournament with 17 wickets from just six games.
