India is currently facing the mighty Aussies in the second ODI of the 3-match series. Australia humiliated the hosts in the first ODI by 10 wickets which was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Talking about the ongoing game, Indian opener Rohit Sharma has yet again etched his name in the record books.
Aussie skipper Aaron Finch won the toss yet again and didn't hesitate to bowl first on a dry wicket. Out came the Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan who stitched 81 runs stand for the opening wicket.
In the process, Rohit Sharma became the fastest opening batsman to breach the 7000 run-mark surpassing the record set by Proteas great Hashim Amla. The former took 137 innings to reach this milestone, whereas, Amla achieved this feat in 147 innings.
Meanwhile, the Indian team has gained the early momentum in the first innings as they have accumulated 340 runs for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of the innings.
Skipper Virat Kohli was back at his favorite position i.e. no 3 and contributed with a handy 78 from 76 deliveries. Shikhar Dhawan was the top scorer with a brilliant 96 from 90 deliveries which included 13 fours and a six, whereas, KL Rahul proved to be a surprise package as he batted at the fifth position, and blasted 80 from just 52 deliveries which included 6 fours and 3 mammoth sixes.
His innings gave India the push they needed at the end, and now it's all up to the bowlers to bowl in right areas and ensure India remains alive in the 3-match series.
