Sachin ‘not happy, disappointed’ with Indian players’ performance against Afghanistan

India clinched a thriller against Afghanistan in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 to remain unbeaten in the tournament. However, former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is unhappy with a few things especially with the batting unit and has expressed his disappointment openly.

No positive intent from India: Sachin

While speaking with a news channel, Sachin said that he felt slightly disappointed, it could have been much better. He made it clear that he was also not happy with the partnership between Kedar and Dhoni, it was very slow.

The former India opener explained that we batted 34 overs of spin bowling and scored 119 runs. and he feels that this was one area where we didn't look comfortable at all. There was no positive intent.

Sachin blames Dhoni and Kedar

Sachin further noted that there were more than 2-3 dot balls and after Virat got out in the 31st over and till the 45th over we hadn't scored many runs. He noted that there were not enough outings for the middle order batsmen till now and that put pressure on them. But he thinks that the intent could have been much better by the middle order batsmen.

According to Tendulkar, Kedar Jadhav was under pressure, he had not had an outing up until now. So  he needed someone to take charge of the situation early on but that did not happen.

The Master blaster feels that both Kedar and Dhoni were not able to play at the required strike rate that they would have wanted. Those in-between overs could have been better and that is why Kedar was under a bit of pressure.

India survive a scare from Afghanistan

India managed to sneak past an inspired Afghanistan team which first strangled Indian batsmen with spin and then threatened to take the game away courtesy of Mohammad Nabi's sensational innings.

India managed only 224 runs in their 50 overs with Dhoni and Jadhav adding only 57 runs from 84 for the fifth wicket. It was thanks to Bumrah and Mohammad Shami who claimed an hat-trick, that India managed to win a close game.
