When is IPL 2021? The BCCI president and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has given an update about the next season of IPL. IPL 2020 has turned out to be a huge hit amongst several uncertainties and the BCCI and the government of UAE deserves a lot of credit for this herculean effort. With just 2 more matches remaining for the conclusion of the 13th edition of IPL, it is all set for an exciting finish.
This is the first time that IPL has happened in the September-November window due to the novel corona virus pandemic. With only 6 months remaining for the usual window of IPL, there were speculations that IPL might be postponed but Sourav Ganguly has cleared the air when talking to India today. He said,
Yeah, absolutely. April, May we’ll have another one [IPL 2021 season]
Due to the spread of corona virus, BCCI had to shift the IPL out of India for this year but BCCI is keen on conducting the IPL 2021 in India and Sourav Ganguly confirmed the same.
No, no it’s not true. The UAE was only for the IPL. Yeah, yeah. We will host England in India. We will host domestic cricket in India. Ranji Trophy, we will create a bio bubble and we will do it.
India will tour to Australia after the conclusion of this edition of IPL for an extended tour that includes 4 tests, 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. The series kickstarts with T20I series on November 27th.
After the Australian tour that ends on 15th of January, Virat Kohli lead India will be hosting the defending champions in England for a 5 match test series which will also be their last series of this world test championship. The 14th edition of Indian premier league will take place after the conclusion of England series.
All in all, a packed calendar is awaiting the Indian cricket team and fans.
