Bollywood actress Preity Zinta was born on 31st January 1975 in Shimla. She belongs to a Rajpoot family and her father was an Indian Army officer. He died in an unfortunate car accident when Preity Zinta was only 13 years old. Her mother was involved in the accident and was injured badly. Such an early demise of her father forced her to take rapid strides in life at a young age.

Preity Zinta went to the Convent of Jesus and Mary boarding school in Shimla. During her school days, she was very impressed by the creations of William Shakespeare. She developed a strong liking towards literature and decided to pursue a degree in English honours from St. Bede’s college in Shimla. She also completed her post-graduation with a degree in criminal psychology. After all that, she decided to take modelling as her career option.

Preity Zinta’s first assignment was a television commercial with Perk chocolates. After that commercial, she went with her friend for an audition at Shekhar Kapur’s office. The director insisted her to give an audition too and after seeing her audition, he was impressed. As a result, Shekhar Kapur decided to hand her the debut in Tara Rum Pum Pum opposite Hrithik Roshan but the shooting of the film was cancelled, unfortunately. However, Shekhar Kapur recommended her for Mani Ratnam’s Dil Se.., which became her debut release.

Preity Zinta started shooting for Kundan Shah’s Kya Kehna and Soldier earlier but both the films got delayed. She also acted in a couple of Telugu films afterwards opposite to Mahesh Babu. Shortly after that, her performance in Tanuja Chandra’s Sangharsh received an amazing response from the film fraternity. Preity Zinta was on her way to become a high-demand actress in the Bollywood industry after that hit.

The graph of Preity Zinta skyrocketed during the period of 2000 to 2006. She worked with almost all the top tier actors and directors.
